Can i Use my other computer Boot disk to wipe my laptop?

so i can reformat it wich would wipe it but i cant have the same windows serial. So i cant use the disk because it would totally wipe the windows from the laptop rite? or will it just keep the windows on it and just totally clean the laptop?
